DOW JONES REPORTER** (6024031)
The DOW JONES Reporter allows the user to gather business
information from the Dow Jones News/Retrieval Service Data Base.
Interactive menus are used to read headlines and news stories from
the pages of the Wall Street Journal, Barrons, and the Dow Jones News
Wire Service. Current-day quotes can be obtained for: common and
preferred stocks and warrants, corporate and foreign bonds, US
Treasury bonds and notes, options, and mutual funds. Other services
supported are historical quotes and 'Disclosure Online' for company
profiles and 10K extracts.
Once connection to Dow Jones service is established, menus
prompt the user for a specific response. The user request is
translated into required messages to the Dow Jones service.
Information is then retrieved and displayed on the screen and,
optionally, on the printer.
The diskette storage feature provides a means to reduce
connect-time costs. Prior to logging on to the Dow Jones Service,
users can prepare lists of stocks so that requests can be submitted
automatically during a session. As the information is received it can
be saved on diskette and later printed when the user is no longer
connected to the Dow Jones Service.
