...

The FACT TRACK program is designed to help students master
the arithmetic facts: addition, subtraction, multiplication, and
division. Because the program is organized by levels of difficulty,
it can be used by young children, older children, and adults who
need fact practice.
All computational skills depend on the arithmetic facts:
the sums and products of one-digit numbers and the corresponding
subtraction and division combinations (for example, 6 + 8 = 14 and
14 - 8 = 6).
Mastery of the arithmetic facts has two parts: (1) knowledge
of the correct answer and (2) rapid rate of response. The final
goal is instantaneous recall of the answers to all 390 facts.
* FACT TRACK is a trademark of Science Research Associates, Inc.
       Highlights
- 390 arithmetic facts stored on diskette
- Facts displayed in random order
- Students enter answers from the keyboard or write them on paper
- Selectable methods of timing
- Set performance goals
- Race format - student races against a rocket
Installation/operation: There are three ways to use the FACT
TRACK program. In each, the student or teacher selects a method of
timing the work. The FACT TRACK program then presents exercises for
which the student provides the answers. In two approaches, the
student types each answer; the FACT TRACK program then reports on
the student's performance and lists all errors. In the third
approach, the student answers on paper and then the FACT TRACK
program displays the answers.
As an option, the student may set a goal against which to
compare actual performance. A race format is also available, in
which the student tries to beat a rocket whose speed is determined
by the student's goal.
Prerequisites: FACT TRACK operates on the IBM Personal
Computer with at least 64KB of memory, one diskette drive, and the
Color/Graphics Monitor Adapter with a customer-supplied video
monitor or television set with an RF Modulator. IBM Personal
Computer DOS is also required.
Note: The IBM Monochrome Display is not supported.
Packaging: FACT TRACK is distributed on a program diskette
with the FACT TRACK Guide.
Note: Backup copies of the program diskette may not be made.
